My favorite analogy regarding social media ties back perfectly to this quote. Eric Mayville read this somewhere a while back but can’t find the specific source.
It goes something like this.
If you come sit next to me at a dinner party and start talking and all you do is talk about yourself without showing any interest in what I’m saying, our interaction will not last long. The same can be said about brands using social media. Why would anyone be interested in taking part in a one way conversation with a brand that has no interest in what their consumers are saying?
